Gov. Hochul Must Enforce Labor Law!
Our YASifesto:
Across industries and ages, we are angry. Young workers are especially so. Our bosses demand overtime, yet tell us we are disposable, cutting our benefits and wages. We already face financial instability, and now are told to compete against faster-paced AI, or else be laid off. As the coming decades march on, our conditions will only get worse – and as youth, still at the beginning of our work lives, we have the most to lose!
In the most progressive city, home care workers are fighting the government-sponsored 24-hour workdays that exist only in NYC. Bosses steal 11 hours of wages each 24-hour shift. Governor Kathy Hochul instructs the Department of Labor to maintain such super-exploitation by refusing to enforce labor law. Hochul’s extreme workday system drags down our working conditions! From office workers to artists and medical professionals alike, our health is being destroyed: some must normalize on-call hours, or juggle the workload of several workers, while the rest of us struggle to find work, growing desperate enough to accept just any precarious work. It is the same system that is slowly killing all of us!
Together, we must stop this 24-hour workday and wage theft regime! This is why we protested Governor Kathy Hochul on Oct 8th, 2025, 11 a.m. in front of the NYS Department of Labor. We call on you and your organizations to take a stand, for the sake of ourselves and our loved ones!
